 m of rank r (in the sense of Perrin-Riou)\, and gives a\nbound on the Bloc
 h-Kato Selmer group in terms of an r x r determinant.\nI will give two fun
 damental applications of this refinement: The first\nwith the (conjectural
 ) Rubin-Stark elements\; and the second with\nPerrin-Riou's (conjectural) 
 p-adic L-functions.\n
