DESCRIPTION:Altered abundance of several intrinsically unstructured protei
ns (IUPs)\nhas been associated with perturbed cellular signaling that may
lead to\npathological conditions such as cancer. Therefore\, it is importa
nt to\nunderstand how cells precisely regulate the availability of IUPs. W
e\nobserved that regulation of transcript clearance\, proteolytic degradat
ion\,\nand translational rate contribute to controlling the abundance of I
UPs\,\nsome of which are present in low amounts and for short periods of t
ime.\nAbundant phosphorylation and low stochasticity in transcription and\
ntranslation indicate that the availability of IUPs can be finely tuned.\n
Fidelity in signaling may require that most IUPs be available in\nappropri
ate amounts and not present longer than needed.\n
