DESCRIPTION:Caste structure is the base of Indian society\, even today\, w
 hich is based on social hierarchy\, inequality\, purity-pollution concepts
 \, deprivation of all basic rights with the religious sanction.  In turn\,
  nearly 20 percent of this population became excluded from all spheres of 
 life and continue to struggle for dignity\, status and equality.\n\nA few 
 of them also converted to other religions like Christianity\, Islam\, Sikh
 ism and so on but continue to suffer at the hands of upper castes and the 
 religious heads.  The film is educative showing current realities of life 
 conditions of these people across religions\, education\, occupations and 
 untouchability practice and tries to show the harsh realities in the conte
 xt of Inclusive global situation.\n\nDiscussion led by Professor Govardhan
  Wankhede\, visiting fellow at the Asia Research Center.  Professor Wankhe
 de is from Tata Institute of Social Sciences\, Mumbai\, India. His areas o
 f interest are Education of marginalized\, Affirmative Action Policy\, Soc
 ial Discrimination\, Social Exclusion-Inclusion and currently working at t
 he Center on Inclusion Policy in Higher Education.
