DESCRIPTION:The minimal model program has led to the introduction\nof seve
ral notions of singularities. Because of the very\nnotion of the program\,
these notions are somewhat\nof a cohomological type\, because they requir
e certain\n"Cartier conditions" to hold. One can however\nextend the theor
y to a completely general setting\,\nby working with Weil divisors which a
re homological\nobjects\, and many of the features of the theory\nextend t
o such a setting. Already the simple case\nof cone singularities offers an
interesting class\nof examples\, and by working in such generality\none c
an gain some new insight in global geometry.\nThis talk is based on joint
work with C. Hacon\,\nand with S. Boucksom and C. Favre.
