DESCRIPTION:“Having been previously an uncommon condition\, allergy now
affects a quarter of the population. Allergic diseases have become more c
omplex and severe\, affecting multiple organ systems within individuals.\n
\nFood allergy is responsible in large part for the severe profile of the
modern allergy epidemic. As accumulation of this disease in the populatio
n has accelerated\, science has been slow to catch up. As a result\, medi
cal care has often not been based on the best evidence.\n\nIn the Addenbro
oke’s allergy service\, we have been addressing this deficit over the pa
st decade\, establishing clinical patterns by defining the natural history
of severe food allergy and the best approaches to diagnosis and treatment
. In this talk I will discuss the accumulated evidence behind the best cu
rrent and future treatments of food allergy.”\nSee www.csar.org.uk for m
