DESCRIPTION:Abstract: Business environments continue to change at a dramat
ically increasing pace. In software engineering\, agile development approa
ches such as Extreme Programming\, Lean Software Development or SCRUM\, vi
ew change from a perspective that mirrors this turbulent business and tech
nology environment. These agile development approaches represent a major d
eparture from traditional\, plan-driven approaches to software engineering
. "The plan" is replaced by frequent "planning" which is left to self orga
nising teams. The effects of such changes to planning practice include pro
blems of reduced control or difficulties with estimates. Agile development
continues to have a huge impact on how software is developed worldwide. T
he objective of Denniz's talk is to provide an overview of Agile Developme
nt Methodologies\, and discuss their strengths and limitations.\n\n\nAbout
the author:\n\nDenniz is a PhD candidate from ETH Zurich and a former vis
iting student of the EDC. He completed his diploma in engineering from the
Institute of Product Development at the Technical University of Munich. H
is research focusses on Agile Development Methodologies in Software Engine
 ering.
