DESCRIPTION:Tuberculosis (TB) is a chronic infectious disease that is resp
onsible for approximately 2 million deaths worldwide each year. A hallmark
of TB infection is the long term asymptomatic latent period which can pro
gress to active disease years or decades after exposure. Accordingly\, it
can be challenging to identify the source of infection and interrupt trans
mission. I plan to talk about capturing latency and reinfection in mathema
tical models of TB transmission\, including parameter estimation and impli
 cations of underlying assumptions. \n
