DESCRIPTION:Reduced patient trauma and recovery time combined with improve
d precision and dexterity for micro-scale tasks are major benefits of *rob
otic assisted Minimal Invasive Surgery*. Prof Guang-Zhong Yang will outlin
e the key clinical challenges and research opportunities for MICCAI (The M
edical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention) community. MICC
AI is developing biomimetic robotic systems towards the future evolution o
f Minimal Invasive Surgery based on truly flexible access technologies. Th
e talk will cover the latest developments in fully articulated\, bio-inspi
red (e.g. Snake) robot platforms that facilitate intra-luminal or extra-lu
minal anatomical curved pathway navigation with integrated sensing and nav
igation.\nThrough this 'feast' of new technological developments and chall
enges\, the talk will highlight the role of MICCAI in reshaping the future
of Minimal Invasive Surgery.\n\n£2 entry\, *FREE* for members\n\nFollowe
 d by a *wine reception!*\n\n
