DESCRIPTION:For a pair of perturbed anti-parallel quantum vortices\, kinet
ic energy\n$K_{\\nabla\\psi}$ is converted into interaction energy $E_I$ l
eading to\nlocal kinetic energy depletion that is analogous to energy deca
y in a\nclassical fluid\, even though the governing equations are Hamilton
ian and\nenergy conserving. The intermediate stages include: the generatio
 n of\nvortex waves\, their deepening\, multiple reconnections\, the emissi
on of\nvortex rings and phonons and the creation of a -5/3 kinetic energy\
 nspectrum.
