DESCRIPTION:In this talk I'll discuse a variety of fundamental quantum opt
ics experiments performed with individually trapped barium ions interactin
g with continuous laser light.\n In a first experiment I'll discuss the fi
rst measurement of an intensity-field correlation function on a single-ato
m single-photon basis. This correlation function revealed the time evoluti
on of the source-field of the fluorescence after the detection of a photon
  [1].\n Then I'll present an experiment using a Hong-Ou-Mandel type setup\
, where the two-photon interference between two radiating ions situated in
distinct traps was measured [2].\nThe last experiment discusses recent re
sults\, where we measured an electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT
 ) using a single atom [3].\n [1] S. Gerber\, D. Rotter\, L. Slodicka\, J.
