DESCRIPTION:The visibility in a matter wave interference experiment with t
 wo independent Bose-Einstein\ncondensates is different in each realization
 . It provides a measure of the respective condensate \nfractions. Its prob
 ability distribution therefore reflects the full counting statistics of th
 e \ncondensed atom number. The visibility is a self-averaging observable o
 nly in the presence of \nlong range phase coherence. Explicit results for 
 the distributions are given for two-dimensional Bose \ngases\, deep in the
  superfluid regime and close to the transition temperature\, where the vis
 ibility reflects \nthe universal order parameter distribution in the vicin
 ity of the critical point. \n\n
