DESCRIPTION:The coincidence problem in cosmology asks why the densities of
dark matter and dark energy in the Universe are comparable today. A possi
ble approach to this problem is to consider dark matter and dark energy no
t as separately evolving fluids\, but as two fluids that interact with eac
h other. We examine a natural form of interaction and discuss its conseque
nces\, including the result that it is possible to get solutions in which
the ratio of the dark densities varies periodically.
