DESCRIPTION:3.5 billion "letters" describe the human genome. The first tas
 k was to sequence such a genome\, then there's a job for the computer scie
 ntists. The CL seems to have dropped the course on bioinformatics\, so I s
 hall be giving a short introduction about the power and uses of bioinforma
 tics\, algorithms for analysing genomes\, comparing genomes and aligning g
 ene sequences. I shall be exploring the efforts of online genome databases
  and existing tools\, describe mathematical models for representing gene s
 equences\, such as with Markov Models\, and how this is being used.
