DESCRIPTION:The universe is a unique laboratory in which to probe fundamen
tal physics\, and an unprecedented number of such tests will be possible i
n the coming years\, by exploiting the ever improving data from ground and
space. I will illustrate this point by discussing how CMB data can be use
d to constrain fundamental constants\, and how these measurements can be c
ombined with others at lower or higher redshift. I will also discuss the p
rospects for this field in the coming years\, focusing on exploiting curre
 nt and forthcoming ESO facilities.
