DESCRIPTION:Conjugated polymers are colourful carbon-based materials with 
 semi-conducting properties. Chemically similar to many pigments seen in na
 ture\, they can be dissolved in solvents to produce 'inks' and processed t
 o produce a range of optoelectronic devices\, ranging from tunable lasers 
 to solar cells.\n\nIn this talk\, I will give a brief overview of conjugat
 ed polymers and their applications\, and will focus on how spectroscopy ca
 n be used to shine light on the underlying physics of these fascinating ma
 terials.
