DESCRIPTION:Medical imaging is crucial within the clinical routine of diag
nosis\, therapy\, and intervention. Different devices can provide very dif
ferent information about the individual patient's anatomy. Only through th
 e combination of\, for instance\, high-resolution structural and functiona
l data a broader picture about pathologies can be acquired. However\, doct
ors are often confronted with this huge amount of data which cannot be han
dled manually. There is need for efficient\, automated procedures and inte
lligent systems which allow the integration\, processing\, and visualizati
on in a way such that the workflow of the physicians is optimally supporte
 d. In this talk I will present some techniques and recent advances within
the exciting and emerging field of medical image computing.
