SUMMARY:Computational Neuroscience Course (4G3) - Mate Lengyel (Computatio
nal and Biological Learning Lab\, Department of Engineering\, University o
 f Cambridge)
DTSTART:20140117T110000Z
DTEND:20140117T120000Z
UID:TALK27371@talks.cam.ac.uk
CONTACT:Prof Máté Lengyel
DESCRIPTION:This is the computational neuroscience module taught by Máté
Lengyel\, Richard Turner\, Henning Sprekeler (Engineering)\, and Simon La
ughlin (Zoology). The main audience is 4th year (MEng) students in Enginee
ring\, PhD students\, and others interested in learning about computationa
l neuroscience. \n\nThe course demonstrates how mathematical analysis and
ideas from engineering-related disciplines (dynamical systems\, signal pro
cessing\, machine learning\, optimal control\, and probabilistic inference
) can be applied to gain insight into the workings of the nervous system.
Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts is assumed. \n\nTopics covered in
 clude neural coding\, neural networks\, plasticity\, associative memory\,
 efficient coding\, supervised\, unsupervised\, and reinforcement learning\
 , energy efficiency\, and optimal control.\n\nMore details at:\n\nhttp://t
inyurl.com/cnscourse\n\nThis course is open to anyone wishing to attend\,
 subject to space constraints.\n
LOCATION: Cambridge University Engineering Department\, Lecture Room 12 (T
 rumpington Street)
