DESCRIPTION:The Harappan civilization was a flourishing civilization in th
e Indian subcontinent over 3900 years ago. However\, it rapidly fell into
decline for reasons largely unknown. Environmental change is hypothesized
as one of the many reasons. Examples of the others are the migration of th
e River Saraswati\, mismanagement of resources\, enemy invasion and tecton
ic activities. I aim to study whether environmental change was indeed the
reason by reconstructing the palaeoclimatic history of the region. This re
search will shed light on the nature of the patterns interrelating climate
and civilizational activities. Such research would give a holistic and hi
storically comprehensive understanding of anthropogenic impact on the clim
ate.The insights gained can be used in chalking out plans and strategies t
o repair and better Man's relationship with Mother Earth.\n
