 tal media combined with a collapse in the cost of international communicat
 ion are together transforming the experience of migration with implication
 s for family life\, sociality and intimacy\, identity and political involv
 ement. Through a series of panels and presentations\, this interdisciplina
 ry conference will assess the impact of digital media on the following asp
 ects of migration: representation\, visibility and participation\; culture
  and identities\; family separation\; social life\; patterns of migration 
 and policy implications. The conference will also provide an opportunity t
 o reflect on ‘the digital’ and what is new about new media. The confer
 ence is co-funded by CRASSH and the ESRC as part of the research grant on 
 Migration\, ICTs and Transnational families (Principal Investigator: M. Ma
