DESCRIPTION:In January 2005\, four University of Cambridge researchers fou
 nded a technology start-up called “XenSource”. In November 2007\, XenS
 ource was purchased by Citrix Systems (NASDAQ:CTXS) for US $500M. In this 
 talk I will outline the story of XenSource\, from technical inception to t
 he ultimate purchase\, and draw a number of lessons regarding things we di
 d right and – more often! – things we did wrong.\n\n\nAbout the speake
 r: Steve Hand is the University of Cambridge Reader in Computer Systems\, 
 with interests in operating systems\, computer architecture\, programming 
 languages\, distributed systems and algorithms. He has published over 50 p
 eer-reviewed papers and supervised 7 PhD students to completion to date\, 
 with 6 more in the pipeline.
