DESCRIPTION:The study of k-strings and confinement offer many challenging 
 problems in pure SU(N) Yang Mills gauge theories\, ranging from the hunt f
 or a viable effective string description to the scaling law of the k-strin
 g tension in large N limit. After an excursion of the open problems\, I wi
 ll present our lattice study on the topic. I will highlight a novel approa
 ch to the Luscher-Weisz factorization technique\, and show our latest nume
 rical results.\n
