DESCRIPTION:Laser-driven flyers are punched from a few microns of metal de
 posited onto a fused quartz window using a focussed Nd:YAG laser pulse. By
  improving the quality of the laser pulse and the design of the laser flye
 r\, the velocity achieved by the flyer is increased for a given pulse ener
 gy.
