DESCRIPTION:This presentation describes research undertaken in three indig
 enous populations and investigates their common health issues. The focus o
 n these three populations relates to my personal work with them and to dat
 a published by my colleagues. Obesity and diabetes will be highlighted exa
 mples and consequences as it can apply to preventive action will be critic
 ally examined. The presentation should end with an outlook about how the n
 ewly founded Copenhagen School of global health plans to make an impact in
  prevention and control of chronic diseases in low and middle income count
