DESCRIPTION:Lagrangian cobordisms are natural relations between Legendrian
  submanifolds\, arising from studying Lagrangian submanifolds in the sympl
 ectisation of a contact manifold. These relations strengthen the importanc
 e of contact geometry in low dimensional topology as they can be used in s
 ome cases to compute 4-dimensional smooth invariants of knots. Moreover\, 
 Legendrian contact homology is functorial under Lagrangian cobordism. In t
 his talk\, we will discuss both of these applications and provide examples
  in each case.
