DESCRIPTION:I will talk about two recent projects:\n\n1) An experiment-fri
endly method of implementing quantum computation\, called Ancilla-Driven Q
uantum Computation (ADQC)\, where the computation on a static register of
qubits is driven remotely with the help of a single\, flying ancilla qubit
that “steers” the evolution of the register.\n\nRefs: Janet Anders\,
 Daniel K. L. Oi\, Elham Kashefi\, Dan E. Browne\, Erika Andersson\, Phys.
Rev. A 82\, 020301(R) (2010)\; a technical discussion can be found at arXi
v:0905.3354v2\n\n2) I will then review Landauer's erasure principle. In th
e last decade a number of papers and books have claimed violation of Landa
uer’s principle (and the 2nd law of thermodynamics) in the strongly coup
led quantum regime. I will argue why these claims are erroneous and show h
ow a consistent treatment resolves the paradox.\n\nRef: Stefanie Hilt\, Sa
