DESCRIPTION:An increasing number of pervasive computing applications rely
on the reliable determination of the location of a person or object. While
many researchers would agree that the underlying techniques for location
estimation are fairly mature\, design requirements such as high accuracy\,
low cost\, and low power consumption are difficult to meet satisfactorily
.\nThis talk highlights the major problems associated with developing accu
rate location systems using conventional approaches and presents a viable
solution to these inherent physical problems by using a novel method based
on near field technology. The theoretical underpinnings\, implementation\
, and current results will be discussed.
