DESCRIPTION:The postwar development of the Church of England is explored t
 hrough a new framework of institutional analysis that identifies three dim
 ensions of institutional change: (1) the degree of institutionalization\, 
 (2) the structure and meaning\, (3) the prevalence. Through the framework 
 the complexity of institutional change can be better understood\, as illus
 trated by the case of the Church of England. Specifically\, attention will
  be paid to the recent relative success of conservative religion to withst
 and processes of secularization. With the use of the framework a tentative
  explanation of this phenomenon will be offered.
