DESCRIPTION:A fine-tuning free lattice formulation of 4d N=4 SYM\, if it e
xists\, would be useful for nonperturbative tests of the AdS/CFT correspon
dence. However it is not successful so far. In this talk we point out stri
ng-inspired matrix model techniques are very useful for the nonperturbativ
 e formulation of 4d N=4 SYM. We construct a two-dimensional lattice with a
plane wave deformation\, from which two additional dimensions emerge thro
ugh the Myers effect. In other words we construct a D1-brane theory from w
hich a D3-brane theory\ncomes out. We show that this formulation does not
require any fine tuning at least to all order in perturbation theory. If t
ime permits\, I show some numerical results of 1d and 2d SYM theories\, in
order to demonstrate how numerical simulation works in the context of the
  AdS/CFT and the gauge/gravity duality.\n\n
