DESCRIPTION:A number of eukaryotic factors working at the interface\ntrans
cription-RNA export plays a role in preventing R-loop formation\, one key
substrate in the origin of transcription-associated genome instability\, w
hich may be triggered by DNA modifying enzymes such as AID. I will present
our recent work trying to understand the interconnection between transcri
ption\, R-loops and genome instability in yeast and human cells at a genom
e-wide scale\, the impact that replication may have in this interconnectio
n\, and how it can result in translocations often associated with cancer.
