DESCRIPTION:Causal inference is treated here as the study of interventions
. Various\nframeworks for distinguishing intervention from observation are
discussed. Some\nframeworks assume the existence of latent deterministic
mechanisms which\nmarginalise to produce observed uncertainty. Other proba
bilistic frameworks are\nagnostic to such mechanisms. The semantics and co
mputations in both types of\nframeworks are described and their relative a
 dvantages compared.\n
