DESCRIPTION:The daily cycle of sleep and wakefulness is the most obvious m
 anifestation of our body's internal (circadian) clock. Mike Hastings will 
 review what we know about the genetic\, cellular and neural mechanisms tha
 t make up this clockwork\, and how this genetic timekeeper relates to heal
 th and disease.\n\n_Dr. Michael Hastings is a group leader of the Laborato
 ry of Molecular Biology's neurobiology division\, and a Fellow of the Roya
 l Society. He is known for his highly influential contributions to our und
 erstanding of biological clocks through the study of the suprachiasmatic n
 ucleus (SCN) of the hypothalamus in the brain._
