DESCRIPTION:A number of Beyond the Standard Model scenarios can lead to ph
 ysics processes with tau leptons in the final state. The experimental dete
 ction of an excess of such events could indicate the existence of neutral 
 Higgs bosons (h/A/H --> tau+ tau-) from the Minimal Supersymmetric extensi
 on to the Standard Model\n(MSSM)\, charged Higgs bosons H+- --> tau+- nu\,
  third-generation leptoquarks\, or even extra gauge bosons decaying into t
 wo tau leptons such as a Z' as predicted by Grand Unified Theories or theo
 ries of extra dimensions. The most recent search results from the ATLAS ex
 periment at the Large Hadron Collider\n(LHC) will be presented.
