DESCRIPTION:We discuss moduli spaces of abelian varieties in positive char
 acteristic $p$\, with Iwahori level structure at $p$. In contrast to the m
 oduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties these spaces are si
 ngular and are considerably more complicated.\n\nTheir local structure can
  be described quite explicitly in terms of matrix equations. As to the glo
 bal structure\, the most interesting part is the supersingular locus (in o
 ther words the unique closed "Newton stratum")\, whose structure is closel
 y related to Deligne-Lusztig varieties.\n\n
