DESCRIPTION:The multicore approach is seen by many as a silver bullet to t
 he\nproblems of scaling uniprocessor performance. In practice we believe t
 hat the limits imposed by Amdahl's law\, complexity (hardware and\nsoftwar
 e)\, reliability and power consumption suggest that this is not\nthe case.
  Paradoxically\, perhaps\, our solution is to employ a greater\nnumber (50
 0-5000) of processors to overcome these limits. This \ntalk will describe 
 the design space we are exploring in the Loki project.\n\nEach member of t
 he project will say a few words about one or two\nelements of the architec
 ture or compiler that they are currently\ninvestigating. Future talks will
  report in more detail on particular\nexperimental results.\n\nhttp://www.
