DESCRIPTION:Following exciting developments in the continuous setting of m
 anifolds (and other geodesic spaces)\, in joint works with various collabo
 rators\, I have explored discrete analogs of the interconnection between s
 everal functional inequalities in discrete spaces\; such inequalities incl
 ude concentration\, transportation\, displacement convexity and modified v
 ersions of the logarithmic Sobolev inequality. I will attempt to review so
 me of these connections and illustrate with examples. Computational aspect
 s of the underlying functional constants and other open problems will also
  be mentioned. \n
