DESCRIPTION:Uncover the hidden spatial diversity potential in 2.4 GHz band
for indoor Wireless Sensor Networks\, Ruoshui Liu\n\nMore and more wirele
 ss technologies\, e.g.\, Wi-Fi\, Bluetooth\, and Wireless Sensor Network (
WSN)\, emerge operating in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz ISM band\, the shared wi
reless channel becomes overcrowded. More severe signal degradation in the
wireless channel is attributed to the multipath phenomena exhibiting in th
e environment where WSNs are deployed. In this research talk\, I will brie
fly talk about the investigation of the potential benefit which space dive
rsity could bring to WSNs to combat the degradation introduced by multipat
h in the indoor environment. \n\n\nDevice Analyzer - Personal Analytic
s on a Global Scale\, Daniel Wagner\n\nDevice Analyzer is a platform to au
tomatically collect fine-grained usage statistics from Android devices. Af
ter 12 months of building\, the application was released on the Android Ma
rket earlier this month.\nRight now more than 460 people from 47 countries
are contributing data to what we hope will soon be the most exhaustive da
taset of mobile device use.\n\nBuilding a reliable service for a fragmente
d environment presented some interesting challenges. I will present some o
f these challenges and how I overcame them\, give examples of the data we
are collecting and present perspectives for the future.
