DESCRIPTION:Today's Diesel engines are a complex combination of interactin
 g\nsystems which are designed to satisfy the driver's requests as\nefficie
 ntly and cleanly as possible\, whilst using cost effective and\nreliable c
 omponents. The automotive industry is understandably\nconservative and con
 trol systems have been evolving over the last\ndecade through increasing n
 umbers of correction factors and specific\ncalibrations. This seminar intr
 oduces the Diesel engine systems and\nsome of the control challenges\, con
 cluding with a discussion on\nwhether it is time for a more systematic app
 roach to engine control?\n
