DESCRIPTION:New technologies that apply the fundamental laws of Quantum Ph
 ysics to network communications and computing promise to revolutionise the
  entire IT industry over the next 20 years.\n\nQuantum Information Technol
 ogy concerns the transport and processing of information using individual 
 particles such as electrons or photons\, which brings unexpected advantage
 s.\n\nIn this seminar\, I will briefly introduce some of these advantages 
 and technologies including quantum computing\, quantum cryptography and qu
 antum teleportation. I will also present the work done at the Cavendish in
  collaboration with Toshiba Research Europe to develop such technologies u
 sing advanced semiconductor nanostructures.
