DESCRIPTION:In analogy to perturbation experiments in physics\,\none can s
ystematically perturb cells\, measure their molecular\nresponse and comput
ationally infer predictive network models.\nWhen applied to cancer cells\,
such systems biology models can\nlead to the design of promising combinat
orial therapies.\n\nThe Cancer Genome Atlas project and the International\
nCancer Genomics Consortium supply unprecedented\nmolecular profiles of ma
ny different tumor types. \nThe commonalities and differences in these pro
files provide\ntwo major therapeutic opportunities: (1) to customize combi
natorial \ntherapy to the individual and (2) to prevent the emergence \nof
resistance to single-agent therapies. I will report on\ncomputational and
cell-line based work in progress in these areas.\n\n
