DESCRIPTION:*ABSTRACT*\n\nNick talks about how Tesco went back to basics t
o understand its customers and how they might have a more enjoyable\, use
ful and time-saving shopping trip through use of digital retail on their m
obile\, TV\, etc - rather than having an 'app' just for the sake of it\, o
r not going in an 'app' direction at all.\n\nOrganisational changes occurr
ed as a result of the behavioural change that was undertaken which in turn
resulted in open innovation and the use of third parties and a developer
community to "build stuff for customers".\n\n\n*About the Speaker:*\n\nNic
k Lansley is one of the most innovative thinkers in the area of web and mo
bile applications for retail. As one of the originators of Tesco.com\, he
first built web and downloadable applications to enable wine and grocery
home shopping on slow modem internet connections\, the first of which was
launched 1996 apened opened by Tesco's Tim Mason and Bill Gates.\n\nHe the
n managed grocery web development through to 2000\, when he took on his cu
rrent research role to help to deliver a service better for customers - wo
rk that continues apace to this day.\n\nHe was recently appointed an inaug
ural member of the UK's Mobile Commerce Joint Industry Committee (MCJIC)\,
an industry initiative established to ensure that businesses are prepared
for the opportunities and challenges that accompany the explosive growth
in mobile commerce. In May 2010 Wired UK voted him #35 in the "The Wired 1
 00" - Britain's top digital power-brokers.\n\n\nPlease confirm your intent
