SUMMARY:Important Chemistry in Cold Dark Places - Glen Langston (National
 Radio Astronomy Observatory\, USA)

DESCRIPTION:We present Green Bank Telescope observations of molecular line
s towards the Taurus Molecular Cloud\, which exhibits strong lines from th
e largest carbon chain molecules detected in Interstellar Space. These obs
ervations are important because they provide clues to the chemical \nproce
sses creating large molecules in the interstellar medium. In particular we
note that these molecules are detected in very cold regions and speculate
that these conditions are required for the formation of the \nlargest mol
ecules.\n\nWe conclude with a review of the new capabilities at the Green
Bank Telescope and their relevance to the ALMA observatory.\n
