DESCRIPTION:Throughout the Second World War German military scientists wor
ked tirelessly to create a weapons program that would avenge Allied bombin
g of the homeland. The result was the infamous V1 and V2 bombs that struck
fear into the civilian population of Southern England. Although the story
of how Britain prepared for Hitler's 'vengeance' campaign has been widely
documented\, the role played by secret intelligence reports has yet to be
told. Turning to primary sources from the Danish National Archive\, we ca
n thus gain a greater understanding of how Allied war planners prepared fo
r Hitler's final attempt to turn the war in Germany's favor and more fully
explore the importance of secret intelligence for national security.
