DESCRIPTION:followed by a wine reception\nFREE for members// 2 pounds for
non-members\n\nProf Jeff Forshaw will introduce us to Einstein's ideas on
space and time and explain some of CERNs most recent discoveries to us. Ei
nstein's theory of relativity tackles the big questions "What is space?" a
nd "What is time?". In doing so it unifies them into a single entity calle
d "spacetime" and leads to a world view that is nothing short of shocking
 - we learn that time and space are subjective entities. Today relativity t
heory lies at the very heart of modern physics and underpins the explorati
ons at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. This talk will take us from the unive
rse to fascinating phenomena of elementary particle phyiscs.
