DESCRIPTION:In 2 space dimensions particle spin is not quantized. The gene
 ral theory of relativistic particles of arbitrary spin\, and the structure
  of supermultiplets of such particles\, will be reviewed. Relativistic fie
 ld theory and string theory examples will be presented. Vortices of the N=
 2 supersymmetric Abelian-Higgs model are semions (spin 1/4). Superstrings 
 are anomaly-free in 2+1 dimensions\, despite being non-critical\, but thei
 r massive spectrum includes anyons of irrational spin.
