DESCRIPTION:We study the bundles of generalized theta functions constructe
 d from\nmoduli spaces of sheaves over abelian surfaces. The splitting type
  of\nthese bundles is conjecturally expressed in terms of a new class of\n
 semihomogeneous bundles. Fourier-Mukai symmetries of the Verlinde bundles\
 nare found\, consistently with strange duality.
