DESCRIPTION:In recent years\, the nature of public engagement has been shi
fting. Alongside well-established means of engaging the public\, new media
technologies have opened up an enormous range of options for communicatin
g far beyond the physical limits of the university. Producing video for\,
and disseminating it via\, the web is one of the most effective ways of ge
tting your research to a large audience\, who can access it from wherever
they are and at a time that suits them.\n\nThe lecture will begin with a c
ase study from *Dr Kevin Greenbank* and *Dr Annamaria Motrescu* (Centre fo
r South Asian Studies)\, who will talk about their involvement in producin
g two YouTube films\, _Elephant Man_ and _A Glimpse of India_. Tom Kirk (H
ead of News) will then provide practical advice about producing video and
sharing it via the University’s *YouTube* and *iTunesU* channels. Finall
y\, there will be a Q&A with the speakers. \n\nBooking is essential. "Plea
