DESCRIPTION:Research Interests: Whether somatic cell reprogramming can occ
ur in vivo in higher vertebrates and the molecular mechanisms driving repr
ogramming remain to be defined. Activation of the Wnt/β-catenin signall
ing pathway enhances reprogramming of somatic cells after their fusion wit
h ESCs. Wnt signalling also controls regeneration in response to damage in
lower and higher vertebrates. Our main goals is to dissect mechanisms of
somatic cell reprogramming and to determine whether activation of Wnt/β
-catenin signalling controls tissue regeneration by enhancing cell fusion-
 mediated reprogramming.
