DESCRIPTION:Open seminar event. Part of the AHRC funded research network 
 ‘The Decorated School’ which is coordinated by Dr Catherine Burke\, Fa
 culty of Education.\n\nThe network is engaged in a two year project\, rese
 arching the relationships between architects\, artists and educators throu
 gh the art which became part of the fabric of school buildings and their i
 mmediate environments in the 20th century. We are interested in understand
 ing more about how the art came to be commissioned\, how the subject matte
 r was decided\, what was its function\, its life story and what ideas abou
 t education or childhood\, if any\, were intended to be conveyed.\n\nThose
