SUMMARY:Hardware security in nanometer CMOS - Wayne Burleson\, University
 of Massachusetts\, Amherst
DTSTART:20110708T150000Z

CONTACT:Markus Kuhn
DESCRIPTION:CMOS circuit technology is underlying most implementations of
secure systems. This talk looks at the impacts of process variations\, no
ise\, and temperature in the new and emerging CMOS technologies (32nm and
below)\, emphasizing lightweight crypto primitives. In particular\, TRNG\,
PUFs\, side-channels\, and SRAM remanence are impacted both positively an
d negatively. We will also show some recent applications of hardware secur
 ity in RFID\, payment systems\, bio-sensors and UWB links.\nThe talk has a
n electrical engineering flavor but is intended to be broadly accessible.
LOCATION:Computer Laboratory\, William Gates Building\, Room FW11
