DESCRIPTION:We have been working on a variety of applied control problems.
 \nFirstly automotive engine management systems have to meet very stringent
 \nperformance\, emissions and efficiency specifications over an extremely 
 wide\noperating range. Secondly wellbore drilling in the oil and gas indus
 try has to\nperform in extraordinarily harsh\, varied and often sensitive 
 environments.\nThirdly thermo-acoustic oscillations can occur in the combu
 stion in gas\nturbines.   We have been engaged in these areas and the cont
 rol issues will be\noutlined and their intersection with currently availab
 le theories and design\nmethodologies discussed.
